It’s approaching that

 

 time of year.

As you all know, July 10 is the date of the Friend’s Ice Cream Social.  That event will run from 6:30 to 8:30pm.  What you may not be aware of is this is the culmination of the DNRs “Take a Day Off @ William O’Brien State Park” event (starts at 1pm.).  These events will be publicized in the east metro area and there exists a potential for “large” crowds.  Thusly, we are expecting a larger than normal showing for our Social.

Our need for volunteer help therefore will be greater, and there are opportunities for Friends to assist with other events that will be happening in conjunction with “Take a Day Off”.  Along with general assistance, if you have skills and interest in: archery, fishing, digital nature photography or geocaching, volunteers maybe needed to help staff ‘demonstrations and/or how to clinics’ that will be set up in the lower picnic area.

I will be attending a meeting in a couple weeks with the DNR planners and providers to better firm up the details.  We need to know how much man-power we will be able to count on. So please let me now as soon as you can if you will be available to help on July 10.

We have been informed by our clothing supplier that the State of Minnesota no longer uses them as a vendor.  Even though we did not buy through a state contract, they will no longer supply use with merchandise.
