Just Off The Trail...
It's been another successful year for the Friends. We had a great turnout for the Ice Cream Social - rescheduled due to the State Shutdown from July 23rd to August 20th - and ran out of ice cream and root beer. Our Happy Falloween event held on October 22nd was packed with children in costumes with lots of hot cocoa served. A BIG Thank You to everyone who helped with these events.
The Friends will be serving hot beverages and sweet treats at the 41st Annual Marine/O'Brien Cross-Country Ski Race scheduled for January 29, 2012. If you'd like to help, even for a couple hours, let me know so we can keep you up-to-date on the details.
William O'Brien State Park has a new Park Manager - Wayne Boerner. Wayne replaces Steve Anderson who retired in June. Wayne introduced himself at the Friends meeting on October 18th.
The Visitors Center now has free Wi-Fi, Solar Electric Panels mounted on the roof and LED lighting in the parking lot.
I've been working on creating a copy of the Friends' logo so the group can order new embroidered clothing. With a new graphics file, we can evaluate the cost of embroidered clothing and make an informed decision on the purchase of new clothing.
The Friends' next scheduled meeting will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the Visitors Center. Everyone is welcome. Bring a Friend.
